A curated library of high-resolution motion photo sequences and timed Quick Sketch tools—created by Scott Eaton—for artists, animators, and educators worldwide. Built to be fast, responsive, and beautiful.
The project faced significant technical hurdles from the start. One of the biggest was handling and serving vast amounts of high-resolution images while ensuring the platform remained fast and responsive on both desktop and mobile devices. At the same time, search engine optimization was a priority — speed and mobile friendliness are critical for Google rankings, so every millisecond mattered.
Beyond performance, the user experience needed to be seamless. Artists had to be able to access and interact with motion sequences without delays or frustration, and with the expectation that pages would load in under three seconds, particularly on mobile, performance optimization became the deciding factor for engagement and conversions.
We overhauled both the front-end and back-end to maximize performance and reliability. A custom architecture was built to cut photo load times from 8 seconds to just 3. We integrated Amazon Cloud Front with S3 for global delivery, minified JavaScript and CSS for faster rendering, and upgraded PHP with optimized MySQL queries. Together, these enhancements ensured the massive image library could be delivered seamlessly at lightning speed.
Performance-first approach: Optimized every step of image processing to remove bottlenecks.
Scalable infrastructure: Rebuilt hosting and storage to grow without slowing down.
Artist-focused: Added features like filtering and QuickDraw for a better creative flow.
Mobile-first: Smooth experience across desktop, tablet, and phone.
The site looks and runs great, and the team was a huge part of making this happen. Communication was excellent from the start, and they were incredibly responsive to urgent needs. I feel like the developers are part of the BiM team, and I will happily continue working with them on current and future projects.
Bodies in Motion was a rewarding challenge — managing a massive library of high-res images while keeping load times under three seconds. From database optimization to CDN integration, we built a platform that artists and students worldwide can use smoothly on any device. It’s proof that strong backend architecture powers exceptional user experiences.
Faster loads: Custom pipeline cut load time from 8s to 3s.
Global delivery: Amazon CloudFront + S3 for worldwide reach.
High performance: Optimized queries (20 → 4).
Modern stack: Minified JS/CSS, PHP 7 upgrade.
Responsive UI: AngularJS + Bootstrap for any device.
Bodies in Motion is now a go-to platform for artists, educators, and creatives worldwide — enabling them to access thousands of high-quality motion studies anytime, anywhere. With load times cut from 8 seconds to just 3, user engagement has grown significantly, and the QuickDraw feature has become a favorite tool for art practice. The platform’s improved speed and mobile responsiveness have boosted both search rankings and conversion rates, transforming it from a niche art resource into an industry reference — built and optimized by our team.
